With over a hundred credits to her name, JEAN ST. JAMES, enjoys creating fun and diverse characters that make us both laugh and cry.  She embodies a character with her whole being demonstrating the virtues and flaws and the honest fight (and often the agony) of each character to win over their circumstances. Though brilliant at drama, Jean is innately comedic.  In addition to her many comedic roles, she has also performed stand up both at THE COMEDY STORE and THE IMPROV.

Jean was recently seen as the sweet but insecure upscale widow who makes a play for Norman (Alan Arkin) on THE KOMINSKY METHOD, the eccentric, spaced out airline stewardess that recurred on LA TO VEGAS, a humorless waitress on SPEECHLESS, the electrifying, desperate psychic who meets her death on HAWAII FIVE-O, the ditzy, warm and funny, marijuana mom on JIMMY KIMMEL LIVE, the cold, uptight secretary on the TV movie, MY LITTLE GIRL IS GONE, and the heartbreaking victim of an abusive Alzheimer husband in the award winning short film, THE WORLD OF GHOSTS. She has been unstoppable – bringing to life other roles shows like: “Mom,”  “Life in Pieces,” “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia,” “Criminal Minds”, and many more.

Her captivating versatility lands her roles of all kinds: business execs, sexy powerful women, carefree hippies, wise and maternal grandmas, and eccentric, fun characters!

The daughter of a Kansas wheat and cattle farmer, Jean graduated from Kansas State University where her dream to become a professional actor began. There Joel Climenhaga, K-State’s Director of Theatre, strongly encouraged Jean to pursue acting professionally…which, needless to say, changed her life forever.  “We’re not in Kansas anymore, Todo!”

Soon after coming to Los Angeles, Jean became a member of famous improv group “The Groundlings”, performing in their show for over a year and thus it began!

Jean is very proud of her son, MARTIN STARR, who had success at a young age.   He currently stars in Silicon Valley, previous credits include Spider Man, Knocked Up, and Freaks and Geeks.

More than appreciating his great skill as an actor, Jean is proud of who Martin is a person – incredibly kind, generous and funny!  She especially loves watching CLIPPERS games with him…They are both huge fans!
